1.00 FUP

If only if was this funny. Sharks have a vital purpose in the oceans. Their existence helps the vitality of species in the ocean from which, we mankind, benefit and feed ourselves. The ocean is owned by everyone and therefore no one looks after it. It is called the ‘Tragedy of the Commons’. A race to exploit a resource before someone else does. It is a side effect of capitalism as there is ‘no profit’ to individuals or corporations from looking after nature.

Our power, because we do have power, is to reduce and remove demand. Capitalism seeks profit. If no one wants Shark Fin soup, no one will fish sharks for their fins. Sharks will not be hunted. The solution is simple. Make each purchase count and make is socially unacceptable to covet Shark Fin soup. Shark Fins belong on Sharks not in a soup.

Did you know, on average, sharks kill around 10 people per year while humans kill 11,000–30,000 sharks per hour. The sharks keep the oceans, fish stocks, ecosystem and coral reefs alive. If we don’t save sharks, they get finned into extinction, the ocean is going to turn into a swamp, and guess who’s going to die next, Us!
